When Mandy lands in the middle of an old feud and someone keeps trying to kill her, instinct tells her to run. I really enjoyed this book. After reading some of the 1 & 2 star reviews, I almost deleted it from my kindle without reading it. But I gave it a chance and am glad I did. It was a mystery that ended unexpectedly. I would definitely recommend it to those, like me, who enjoy a good romantic mystery without all the bad language you get in some of the other books.Product details

Cold River Liz Adair 9781599928036 Books Reviews
I got this book as a freebie over a year ago and finally got around to reading it this week. The author was new to me and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed this book. I was surprised by all of the negative reviews, but not everyone likes the same things.
I try to compare apples to apples when writing a review and I judge a book against others in the same genre. To me, this book read a lot like a light, older-style Harlequin Romance with mild romantic suspense elements. That is not an insult, because I like the category romance genre, and sometimes it is exactly what I am in the mood for reading.
I was puzzled about the complaint of a reviewer who felt that this type of book raises unrealistic and possibly dangerous expectations in female readers. I’ve been reading romance books since I was twelve years old and I never had problems differentiating fictional romance from reality. I think most readers see romance books as escapist literature, much as with mystery, science-fiction and fantasy books. I also read serious literature and non-fiction books, but escapist literature definitely has its place.
As category romance books go, this was well done and typical of the genre. Was it perfect? No. The heroine was a bit judgmental initially, but that was to highlight how her attitude changed as she got to know people. As well, the heroine recognized her mistakes, apologized and tried to make up for them.
The hero’s Bell’s Palsy plot device aspect was a bit weak, but the author had the heroine beginning to warm up to the hero before he was cured. As written, it was the attitudes and preconceptions of both the hero and the heroine that caused the conflict between them, and that had nothing to do with the hero’s looks.
In summary, this was light, mindless reading, perfect for relaxing at the end of a frustrating day. It was a perfectly clean read with ‘insta-love’ and a low key romance and minor mystery. Writing mechanics were excellent and the pacing was leisurely but even. It’s not an A-list romance book but it is a solid B-list book. I gave it four stars because despite some minor flaws, it was well written and entertaining when judged against other books in a Harlequin-style, B-list category. Readers who dislike Harlequin Romance books, or those who expect a solid suspense story will likely hate this book. Read it for what it is, though, and it holds up to expectations.
I down loaded this book based on the cover and name. I wasn't disappointed. Characters drew me in and looked forward to read what was going to happen next.
Action, romance, and intrigue, this delightful novel has everything. I couldn't put it down. Beautifully detailed descriptions of the locale made it like being there. The characters are those that you would want as friends and I enjoyed learning about what a school superintendent does. Would definitely recommend. Looking forward to reading other books from this author.
I really loved reading this book . No bad language a truly lovely book very hard to put down
I thought this book was going to be kind of bland for me after reading my favorite books about black ops and political corruption etc. I read the first chapter while eating breakfast last Sunday and it surprised and intrigued me so much that I couldn't wait to get home from church to read more. I couldn't put it down all week. I was even reading it on the TV's commercial breaks. The tough little lady that was featured in this book held out much longer than I would have with a whole small town in Washington hating her before she even arrived. They put her through a lot. The ending may surprise you. I can't wait to read another book by this author Liz Adair.
What a refreshing change to read a novel that doesn’t have bad grammar and misspelled words. This is a delightful story that conveys romance, suspense, and emotion without resorting to clichés and graphic sex. There was a description of the sky (about at the 17% mark on my ) that was so well written that I felt I was the main character who was seeing it. I don't know what book the two negative reviewers read but it couldn't have been this one. I definitely will look for more works by Adair.
This book was pure pleasure to read. It was fun to read about Mandy and her Professional and romantic misadventures. Be prepared for a surprise ending and to fall in love with the Timberlain family. I will definitely read more of this author's work. Clean language and romance.
I really enjoyed this book. After reading some of the 1 & 2 star reviews, I almost deleted it from my kindle without reading it. But I gave it a chance and am glad I did.
